regardless of what you may think of him as a person, IMO ray lewis is the most consistently fierce competitor i have seen play any professional sport in my lifetime. his intensity level is always sky high and he plays at nothing but 100%. if you view his career from purely an effort involved in performance standpoint, there is no comparison to any other athlete IMO.
I would never take the fall for a murder my friend committed. The hell?

He paid off the prosecution and got out of a trial. If he wasn't involved, surely he would have allowed himself to be proven innocent in court? Come on...this wasn't a speeding ticket, it was a murder charge.

Fierce competitor, sure. Murderer who got away, probably. A sideshow clown with his retarded on-field antics, definitely.

In the end, he's no different than any other thug in the NFL. He was just good enough to be able to "make it go away."

Who the **** cares if he stood trial and wasn't convicted for murder? Outside of that allegation I don't think I've ever heard anything but great things about Ray Lewis as a person.

I also personally think he is the best Defensive player of all time, and I'll miss watching him every week. Also, before you go claiming bias, I've been a Fins fan since I was little. I just think the guys a hell of a football player and a great leader who plays with passion and intensity. If you don't like that, you're watching the wrong sport gents.
Jerry Sandusky was a great defensive coordinator and was highly regarded and respected among his peers. Yet, I bet we can't talk about him without someone saying he's a child molester.

The fatal stabbing is part of Ray Lewis' past, and some will hold it against him.

Once again you're comparing apples to oranges here. Ray Lewis isn't a convicted murderer. Sandusky definitely 100% was a small boy rapist. You can hold it against him if you want, I don't give a ****. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty in my eyes.

my feeling is that deep down, Ray Lewis is basically a *****. He puffs his chest out more than any athlete except for maybe Ali, but deep down, he is soft and insecure. My guess is that he probably got brought into a terrible situation with some close friends and tried to do right by them, but I can't imagine him being capable of murder.

Wait, how the hell can you be a Steelers and a Flyers fan???

Always said he should be in jail. Also get tired of his self promoting dances. Other than that, a decent player.....

Many people west of Chester County are Phillies/Flyers/Steelers fans for some reason. Then it's all Pittsburgh once you get past Harrisburg. Not sure why the Eagles don't get more love...maybe because they're losers.

I've always been that way. Flyers/Steelers/Phillies/Sixers/Penn State. My dad is the same way, no idea why. I used to actually hate the Eagles when I was a kid, but now that I am older it is kind of hard for me to dislike the fans of the Birds simply because they are the same people I cheer with for every other sport.

Yeah you're spot on with that. State College has the feeling of Pittsburgh, when in reality you're near the middle of the state. I'd even be willing to say anything west of Lebanon County is Steelers country. For some reason the Steelers seem to have a massive advantage of fans in the state compared to the Eagles.

Oj planed his murder. We all know what happened he is clearly guilty.

Lewis and his entourage got into a fight with other thugs at a party. The two that got into a fight with Lewis either got killed by one of Rays homies or Ray himself, was covered up to seems more likely he did it, things just don't add up. To be honest though, it doesn't really matter the people killed were other ghetto douches. Great player, **** human he should be in jail. but......

I don't really care. Lewis doesn't seem to also.

Incorrect. An article in the NY times said that of all the witnesses that testified, NO ONE said ray lewis was involved in the stabbing. he "cut a deal" with the prosecution because he was an accessory after the fact in a mild cover up, which he somewhat admitted, and he testified against the murderers as a result. like i said before, no one in their right mind would condone his actions in any sort of cover up. but in the heat of the moment, when your good friends are involved, sometimes things happen. but there was absolutely NO evidence that he was involved in the actual murderous act.

as far as his on the field antics, i'm not sure why you would consider them to be "retarded." he fires up his team and backs it up more than any other in pro sports. the guy is the definition of a gamer. IMO the best of my generation.

Weird. I would feel dirty if I rooted for the Eagles and Pens.

Ray Lewis never impacted games like this:

Forces an interception for a field goal!
Forces a fumble for a field goal!
Makes a one handed sack!
Intercepts a pass and runs 97 yards with a bad knee! Taylor only played the second half due to his bad knee!

Giants win 13-7!

Lawrence Taylor

There is Lawrence Taylor and then we can begin to talk about the other Linebackers!
