Ray Lewis Retiring

Link: http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/r...,7200934.story

No one can question Lewis's skill, tenacity and leadership on the field. He was one of the greatest LB's to ever play.

BUT...everyone forgets about the stabbing that left two guys dead. Lewis settled out of court with the daughter of Lollar and the family of Baker. To me, that implies guilt. The murder charges were dropped after he decided to testify against his friends. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor of obstruction of justice.

Also, the white suit that Lewis wore that night was never found. How the hell do you lose a white suit!? He was one of the best at cleaning up tackles, and also crime scenes.

He was a great player, but should he have had the chance to play after that night in Atlanta?

hard to say about that murder. Today's Ray Lewis wouldn't be capable of that but perhaps 2000 Ray Lewis was.

Kobe...He's another one. Great role model for kids.

MAYBE a linebacker coach. Not a Head Coach of any sort.

So long Ray! Loved watching you play. I'm glad he is going out almost on the top (kinda sorta) of his game. He is one of the best and there are lots of linebackers now moulding themselves around him.

Not everybody. That's pretty much the only thing I think of when I hear the name Ray Lewis. Probably to the point of extreme bias where I don't give the guy enough credit for how good of a football player he really is. That said, I won't miss him one bit. Partly due to that, and the rest because I'm a New England fan.

Like smash alluded to, whenever I her Kobe, I think of Rapie Bryant.

I have never cheered for Lewis either. I see the great plays he makes, but think that he should be in jail.

As a Steelers fan I will miss him greatly. His rivalry with some of our players in the mid-2000's was AWESOME! From him coming out and calling out Joey Porter to Porter getting on the Ravens team bus after the Steelers D whopped up Kyle Boller all night. I find it difficult to imagine him in a Steelers uniform, but I would probably love him as a player.

As a person however he is pure scum. Horrible to even imagine that he got away with murder, but that is the power he has and still has. He will go into the Hall of Fame one day, and so will Hines Ward probably. Doesn't mean I have to celebrate you as a person, just a performer.

PS...Hines Ward is a dirtbag.

His ACL should have been ripped out the back of his leg and force fed to him at the 50-yard line ten years ago.

The greatest LB to ever play, possibly the best defensman ever also, Ravens will not be the same without him managing the defense.

One of the best ever who only got a chance to prove his talents because he paid millions to get away with murder.

Sounds like a great movie.
