Make it a co-award this year.
They've done it for MVP, do it for this award. It's incredible what both guys have to endure. AP with his recovery from a torn ACL and MCL, and Peyton with multiple neck surgeries for his herniated disc. I voted AP simply because I've seen him play more this year. Also, as the hits keep accumulating on his body getting this late into the season, he's getting stronger and stronger as a runner and putting up more and more yardage.

Adrian Peterson all day everyday.
Running backs just don't comeback from the surgery he had this well this quick. That he'll break Dickerson's record barely 12 months after having his knee reconstructed is phenomenal.

I would not be against co-winners of this award. They are both performing at an amazing level made more special by doing it after a serious injury.
I'd vote for Mario Williams as comeback player of the 2nd half of the season

I gotta go with Manning.
-Missed an entire season. -Getting up there in age. -Went to a new team and new system. Chilly does bring up a good point with the difference in hitting between the 2. QBs are way over protected by todays rules and dont get hit as much as they used to. I doubt his longevity would of lasted this long if he played in the 80s. BUT, the running back doesnt get the ball every offensive play like the QB so it evens out a little. Last edited by straka91; 12-13-2012 at 09:17 PM. |

Really could go to either guy as they are both having great years.
But I give a slight edge to AP. Similar to what others have said, he is getting hit on every play. The other point being every defense knows Minnesota is going to run and they still can't stop him. |

Then you have to figure how many plays besides when he is carrying the ball he is on the field, because on every one of those plays he is blocking linebackers, etc. How many times does a QB block? |

it's not a new system...it's the same system he had while in indy. he's calling the shots, he has the freedom to do whatever the hell he wants at the line. if he wants to go no huddle, he can. if he wants to not call the play that is relayed into him, he can and will. he is the offensive coordinator in denver minus the play book setup each week.

Manning. The guy was left for dead by mostly every talking head before the season started. Hell, he was drafted as a QB 2 in every fantasy league that I participated in this season.
Personally, I thought, one good shot on this guy and he could be done forever. I was wrong. Manning could be named league MVP soon. He gets my vote. P.S. Andrew Luck will never be better than him. |

Medically speaking I'd imagine what those Euro doctors did to Manning's neck was much more elaborate and a long shot to work (at this level) than AP's knee. But just watching both; AP is much more mind-blowing to watch on the field. He actually looks BETTER than before the injury, his progression is moving right along like it never happened.
If I HAD to choose one or the other; AP gets it. But if I was giving the doctors an award, I'd give it to Manning's team. |
