Seen Johnny Manziel is now the leading candidate for that Heisman trophy thing.

He's having a hell of a season, statistically and from a success standpoint.

Thoughts?

Interesting topic they were talking about on the radio last night. Seems that this year there is no real outstanding players who are blowing everyone away. People were talking about Marquise Lee for his ridiculous recieving stats and kickoff returns. Another is Manti Teo they were talking about and how straight defensive players are not really considered, but should be.

To be honest, I haven't really seen enough of any of these 3 play to have an educated guess. To me though, I don't see how you can give it to someone on a team like USC that is just having an awful season. And if Manziel has been playing like he did against Bama all year, then he sure does look good.

Hey man, If you've seen any of them play at all, you've seen more than most of the voters.

I'll get a good look at Teo this Saturday, usually not much call to do anything but check the score in the ND game for me. Gotta watch them and USC though...as long as its not a blowout with Barkley out.

What do you think about Teo being deserving? Or have you not seen the others to compare much?

i guess if it comes to fruition...florida can vote no when it comes up, but idk what the total amount of no's it would take for it not to happen.

though thinking about it, i can't really see a reason for them to say no. they play every year, so it's not like they are gonna be adding a tough game to their schedule each season.

Thats what I was thinking too. There is nobody clear cut. Remember when Geno Smith was crowned Heisman after 5 games....that fell fast.

Lee puts up huge numbers, but its tough as a WR since someone has to get the ball to you. He can't really be blamed for them losing games considering their defense is awful.

I think Teo deserves it most right now. That dude is everywhere. The fact that ND went from unranked to #1 in the country basically all because of their defense proves he is making a difference.

i never really believed in the whole * you have to pick a player from a team whos in top 10 kinda thing* because there are players like marquis lee who is flat out phenominal, but because their defense sucks he doesnt get love for voters? I alwasy pick the guy who a team needs the absolute most and who contributes the absolute most. Johnny football is that team pretty much for A&M. Marquis Lee is scary good, looking at the stats and his playmaking ability every week is something i havent seen in awhile. Teo is one of the best linebackers ive seen in awhile as well. This yr even tho there is no clear cut winner, it should be a hard choice at this point

I don't see it as a scheduling problem for them, I see it as more of a 'we're the only Florida school from the SEC' as far as recruiting, and what that may cut into their recruitment classes.

the thing is though...florida is florida. florida state is still gonna take recruits away whether in the sec or acc. also the state of florida has enough kids to recruit that losing one or two to florida state, won't affect them much imo.

considering in the end this is about money, the move could help the sec with their media contract whenever it's up to be renewed and those two schools could give each school a decent amount more...but i do see your point in full. i just think it's down the line in worries for the school

I've seen Johnny Football play a few times. He's obviously exciting, but he reminds me of the time that Charles Woodson won it because he had a great game against Ohio State. I hate this award more than the bcs, and laugh as the media tries to feed their agendas too us.

Take Johnny off the Aggies and they might have one more loss than they do now. Take Manti off the Irish, and they might be 8 -3.

The award itself is useless to me because of bias and ignorance. The people in this thread would less biased and ignorant.

Did anyone else laugh during Thanksgiving football on CBS (I think, whoever owns the SEC) when they were trying to sell watching Bama/Auburn and LSU/Arkansas?

No but the line for the Bama game was 31 and a 1/2 last time I looked.

I'm excited for tonight. 10 more hours until ND comes pouncing on the field and humiliates USC.
