Manti Te'o allegedly made up the entire dead girlfriend story

So assuming Te'o was aware of this hoax the whole time should it effect his draft status? There's no questioning Te'o a great athlete. can't take that way... it would be dumb to pass over him in the draft. He was projected to go to the Bills so that's why I'm hoping Te'o is innocent.

He's a middle linebacker, he wasn't projected to get drafted real high anyway. Besides, the NFL drafts criminals each and every year. Will it maybe drop him a few spots in the draft? Doubt it, but maybe. He can play football, and if you can play football you'll have a job in the NFL. (Ray Lewis)

Ha, Where did you hear that load of BS? You must not follow the draft very closely.

Te'o is still expected to be a mid 1st round pick. Before the National Championship Game he was expected to go top 10. This hoax might drop him to the bottom of the 1st or early 2nd but I still wouldn't be surprised to see him go mid 1st.

As for the hoax, I have a lot trouble believing Te'o wasn't in on it. If he wasn't, then he might be the most naive person on the planet. If I was an NFL GM/Coach though, I wouldn't be too worried about it. Other than this hoax, he seems to be a pretty good guy. It's not like he got busted with drugs or was in a police chase or beat up his g/f (of course, this is easier to avoid when she doesn't actually exist).

Now in an interview Te'o said he was aware of the hoax a few days before the Heisman ceremony. He has a solid defense in lying: Think about the negative publicity he would have gotten leading up to the ceremony, it would be all about this hoax not the accomplishments of the other candidates. He made things worse for himself by continuing to tell the story after he knew, however, if all he says is right he did the right thing about now blowing the story. Poor guy.

Millions of people, believe in some kind of God. How many people you know who ever had a girlfriend for 3 years they never met? I'd say these two things can't be remotely compared.
