Manti Te'o allegedly made up the entire dead girlfriend story

When I saw this at the bottom of ESPN I was like you got to be kidding me!! As a ND fan I hope Te'o didn't purposely mislead people. Te'oying through heartbreak inspired the Irish. If he created this girlfriend for publicity I'm embarrassed to be an Irish supporter and he should be ashamed of himself. How about the parents, if this was all a hoax they must have been involved because they said how the girl visited Hawaii.

I care about this so much. I have such a strong opinion about this. This matters to me sooooooo much that I can't even think straight.

The terrible thing about the advent of social media is that it seems to lead people to give opinion/care about sh*t that 1. Doesn't matter 2. They never would have heard about in the first place.

You know, as others have said, him being Mormom may have played a part of it. Anyone who knows anyone who is a practicing Mormon, especially around the college age knows that their ways are extremely different from the norm. Look at BYU for example. I have a friend who went to BYU, said she never drank, didn't date, and their social outings were limited to what most of us would consider middle-school activities. This is the only explanation I can think of, and if he actually didn't know then he is a completely clueless goof who needs a reality check. Falling madly in love with an internet girlfriend? Sounds like some Dr. Phil crap. Him being a huge star college football star, for Notre Dame, really has me doubting that scenario. Is it possible he is that clueless? Possibly, but again I find that very, very hard to believe.

Him actually making this up, or at the minimum having knowledge of this and going along with it seems hard to believe as well. Who knows yet, but a very odd story. I mean what'd he have to gain by saying that on top of his grandmother passing away that day, that so did his girlfriend? I mean when a grandparent passes away for most of us, we spend that day mourning our loss, and instead he decided to say, "Hey, my grandmother died today, let's say my girlfriend died too...the media will love this and it will help me to try and win the Heisman." I just can't see that being the case either.

On a side note, how happy is Lance Armstrong today, and how disappointed is Oprah?
