Junior Seau Dead; Apparent Suicide

Quote:
NFL legend Junior Seau was found dead in his home in Oceanside, CA ... and cops are investigating a shooting ... multiple law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

Cops are currently at Seau's home just outside San Diego. Seau was 43-years-old ... and leaves behind 3 kids and an ex-wife.

Seau was a beast in the NFL -- skyrocketing to fame thanks to his explosive play with the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots. The USC standout was selected in the first round of the NFL draft in 1990 and played in the league for 20 years.

Seau was involved in a car accident back in 2010 when he drove his SUV off a cliff in Carlsbad, CA hours after he was arrested for allegedly attacking his girlfriend. Seau later said he was not trying to kill himself ... insisting he had fallen asleep at the wheel.

Apparently shot himself, although that would explain the suicide part. Saw a stat that said this is the 8th or 9th memeber of the 94 team that made the Super Bowl. It's just crazy from my end. Seau jumping for joy at 3 Rivers when they beat the Steelers will be an image I will always remember.

Just sad sad sad times.

Didn't he attempt suicide a year or two or three ago with driving off a cliff, or something like that?

I thought it was Junior that did that... could be mistaking though.

I really hope it's not true. I grew up absolutely loving to watch Seau play, and still have his rookie card in some box somewhere in my basement.

*Edit - just seen the bottom paragraph in the article.

Apparently Fox Sports is reporting Seau sent texts to his wife and 3 kids and pretty much said his goodbyes in the texts. House maid found him this morning with a gun shot to the chest.

Chest is a interesting way to go about offing yourself with a gun. But TMZ reported that another football player (Dave Duerson) blew himself away via the chest a year or two ago so he could donate his brain to concussion studies.

I hate that he would kill himself, pretty selfish having 3 kids the wife what-ever. I have always said it is the easy way out. I know he had a restaurant that he owned i find it hard to believe he owed money, and i am also sure he probably lived a well off life as far as having stuff Ect. No matter was a great player and suks big time.

I read that too and we all know what will happen with that. Concussions caused his death! Bull****. You can't just assume that.

All those fools who were saying that concussions caused Rypien's, Belak's, and Boogy's death will be the ones clamoring for the same thing.

Yeah but at the end of it I don't know what went on in his head. I agree it is selfish but it's just hard to grab a hold of at this point.

No doubt it's selfish.

The worst part is the kids will now only get to hear about how great of a person their dad was, instead of being able to hear the deeds from him personally.

I know a lot of athletes go out of their way, donation and community wise, but Junior was one of those athletes with a ton of publicity surrounding a lot of what he did, because what he did was over the top and amazing - even by athlete's standards.

As Canuck2 says, you can see the public side of these guys and it looks amazing, but deep down in the personal sea, you never know the torment or demons they hide.

Feel a million times worse for his family than him. What a selfish ass. Now his family has to spend their lives grieving on days that should be fun and happy.
