Alex Smith traded to the Chiefs

Smith to the Chiefs.

49ers get a 2nd rounder.

It was bound to happen.

Niners' picks this year: 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7. Also projected to get 4, 7, 7 comp picks.

Look for the Niners to move up and down the draft board this year and probably next year. I've been hearing for some time they may take a run at Revis. I'm not big on that move, as I wouldn't mind seeing Asomugha in SF. Obviously with a different contract than what the Eagles gave him...

SF has a lot of faith behind Tolzien at back up too.

Joeckel or Fisher look to be a lock for KC at #1.

Good luck in KC, Alex!

Didn't the fans burst into a round of cheering when Matt Kassel got a concussion?

I'd ****ing HATE to go there as a quarterback. Poor guy.

If Smith had to go somewhere, with Andy Reid is probably a good move. I give Smith lots of credit for having class and keeping quiet when he lost his job!
I also give Harbaugh credit for having the guts to make the change at QB and doing what he thought was right and now sending Smith to a team with a coach like Andy Reid who is a QB coach!
Alex Smith must be a tough guy mentally to have been a first overall pick who had 9 million coaches and yet he stayed the course and developed under Harbaugh! Most guys would of folded like a cheap suit but he didn't!
Hopefully this is a good move for both teams!

2 picks for Alex Smith is just way more than I would have paid. He's a marginal upgrade over Cassel.

Andy Reid must have fallen off his rocker!

Good. Huge 49er fan and I liked Smith, I'm glad the 49ers had the decency to trade him where he can flourish under Andy Reid.

If they do get Revis now because of this deal I would consider them the best team in the NFL bar none. That D would be right up there with some of the best defenses ever.
