I didn't hear the exchange but it sure didn't seem racial to me, unles FOX believes that hispanics really do steal wallets. Pinella needs to quit with the spanish talk if you ask me or start broadcasting on a Spanish network.

I think FOX is trying to protect their corporate image and had to fire him. Stupid though, after reading what he said, it does not seem racially motivated, stupid yes, but not worth a firing.

IMO after the digital camera comment Fox was just looking for a reason to fire him.

I would get myself fired too if i had to broadcast with Lou Pinella. Why do networks think just because I guy a guy has knowledge on a particular sport, they can be a broacaster. Another example, I can't stand listening to Lou Holtz talk....about anything. And I too thought nothing of Lyon's comments.

By the way, just curious who the first person was that called him psycho and what happened to every media person that called him that word. Is the word psycho derogatory and abusive and if it is has every person who ever used that term toward Lyons been fired or disciplined. We can take this sh*t as far as we want to can't we. To me using a term like psycho could be used in jest or could be abusive and hurtful. If it's used in jest toward Lyons and is accepted by everyone as being ok, then why isn't his poor joke taken the same way and viewed in the same light. It was an attempt at humor and being sarcastic just like calling Lyons a psycho is. To me that is a double standard and is being phony and dishonest!
If Lyons intention was to be racist and a bigot then by all means fire him. If his intention was to use slang and be a smart ass then I don't see any difference with everyone calling him a psycho!

Its not bs at all. This is broadcast television that was seen all over this country. You wanna talk like that off the air fine but you can't be that ignorant to say what he said in front of millions of viewers and think its ok.
