Sheffield injected testosterone, HGH

Quote:
Yankees slugger Gary Sheffield injected testosterone and human growth hormone in January 2002, according to the latest revelations in "Game of Shadows," a book written by two San Francisco Chronicle reporters.

Excerpts from the book appeared earlier this month in Sports Illustrated, giving graphic detail of Barry Bonds' alleged use of a vast array of performance-enhancing drugs, including steroids and human growth hormone.

Sheffield, who in 2003 reportedly admitted to a federal grand jury to unknowingly having used a steroid cream, also sought to maintain a relationship with Bonds' trainer Greg Anderson after Bonds and Sheffield had a falling out in 2002, according to the book's authors. Anderson was among four convicted in the BALCO steroid distribution scandal.

In a 2004 interview with Sports Illustrated, Sheffield said he thought "the cream" was cortisone-based -- he applied it to his surgically repaired knee -- and that he so little suspected its true ingredients that he openly kept it in his locker.

According to the book, Sheffield attempted to obtain "the cream" and "the clear," another designer steroid, through Anderson after Sheffield and Bonds had severed their relationship.

Anderson reportedly kept a drug calendar that documented Sheffield's use of HGH and testosterone.

So have many others that won't get caught.

Sheffield was a prime suspect the entire time, and it comes to no surprise that he was on something.

8 years of 25HR, 80RBI, then wink wink, he starts bashing out 43HR, 130 a year.

Solid player with or without the drugs, but you've always been ignorant player, going back to your Brewer days.

Im not surpised at all. I just wish they come up with proof on McGwire and Sosa. I want McGwire to get just as much **** as Bonds,Giambi and Sheff get. To me he's the biggest cheater of all these guys. That is until Bonds breaks the homerun record. Then he will take the crown back.....

I'm not surprised either. I just wish the F**ks fessed up in the beginning. Giambi Lied in an interview, Sheff has lied, Bonds has lied, they all friggen lied. Just be a man and own up...they had to know this stuff was gonna come out. It just sucks that these guys are the center pieces and there are many many more that don't have to answer for it.

I totally agree. We forgive in this country if you just admit and apologize. We all make mistakes and are human. McGwire and Sosa belong on any cheating discussion for sure. Bonds "act" of blaming the media, using his kids, smirk and all is weak....the walls are closing in on him.

This is what happens when millions of dollars are at stake.

This is so obvious its disgusting. No **** this moron has been loaded on something. Same with Giambi, Bonds, Sosa or McGwire. Its so damn clear that they are all juicing that it shouldnt be a shock if these guys test (or do) positive for anything banned. Like BL said, the least he could do was fess up and take credit for it, instead, he'll pull the usual "didnt knowingly" ****. Sorry, but for $10 million a year, I'd deffinately know whats going into my body.

I think the only reason McGwire isnt ripped in the press and whatnot as much as Bonds is because his career is over and Bonds could become the home run king...as of now, that has been the most untouchable record of all, but if he does break it, it will be tarnished and be a major black eye for baseball. I dont think theres a "slugger" out there now that isnt currently or in the past took something to improve his ability.(when i say slugger, i mean guys that are primary home run hitters and dont do much else, like a McGwire, Sosa, Canseco, etc.)

Yeah, this is extremely non-shocking. Same thing when I eventually hear someone else's name.

Let's be honest, how many players would actually be a surprise? There are very few IMO.
