Great day to be a Pirates fan, and knowing that Tabata and McCutchen are signed their attention turns to Neil Walker next. Just awesome to see us keep a star player.

$51.5 million? You sure that's correct? Baghdad Bob must have been high or something for him to shell out that kind of money for anyone. At any rate, it is nice to see them keep a young player around for a change. Keeps him away from the Yankees or Red Sox for at least 5 years, anyway.

7 total years, 6 at least. Great deal and one that is an absolute steal, considering McCutchen's projected growth and what we have seen thus far.

This was the best thing the Pirates could have done. Cutch is without a doubt the best player in the game right now. He's so exciting to watch. Players like Cutch, Walker, Burnett, McDonald, Hanrahan, Alvarez ect. are making Pittsburgh baseball fun to watch again. I'm feeling the playoffs this year.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. It's only July 22 and there's still 69 games left. I'm not getting overly excited about anything yet. But yeah, McCutchen is having a season for the ages and for this season anyway, he's been the best player in the game.
