Josh Hamilton off the Wagon

Big news from last night. Some dumb **** in the Dallas area served him the sauce. Pretty screwed up considering he's got a new contract coming up.

Sounds like Josh could soon be posting in HF's Drunk Thread.....

Read about this on Fox Sports. Served up with a massive amount of sensationalism of course. What happened to just reporting on the story? Too much of a big deal has already been made about this barely twelve hours after it happened. I'll wait until the full story comes out, but Josh Hamilton doesn't lose any respect in my opinion.

I agree. This is a good example of "racehorse coverage". Everybody is reporting wanting to be known as the one who spills the story without fact checking first.

Only drama queens like you think this is big news. The rest of us dont care if he hits the sauce, in the off season no less. This is nothing but sensationalism in the media at its worst.

This is the article I was talking about. The fool has since edited it and doubled its length but it was a pretty sorry piece of journalism this morning that contained more dramatization and sensationalism about the ramifications of the situation instead of the very few facts that are out right now.

Exactly, which leads me to believe, without looking, that it's being drummed up on ESPN right now. They probably have Buster Olney doubling as an addiction expert while Tim Kurkjizz drums up storylines about Josh Hamilton's contract. Who cares? Let the man's private troubles be taken care of in-house. Let me know when Tebow loses his virginity.

I'm willing to bet you didn't play professional baseball on the condition that you stay sober though.

Its being reported as "Big News"....it was on the front page of my sports page.

And i could be wrong here, but sports has become sensationalism. I'm not a fan of this either, but when you have one of the best players in baseball, who's an obvious & admitted addict, have a lapse in his sobriety, that is a pretty serious story. Especially coming into his contract year. Addicts can't drink or do drugs. Simple as that..... things like baseball kind of become secondary at that point.

Good thing he's got more than 28 days before the season starts...

But i get what you're saying. ESPN has basically become TMZ/Entertainment Tonight featuring athletes.

There's a major difference in having self control versus a raging drunk like yourself. The problem for Hamilton is he had no self control and let it develop/branch into Cocaine and huge amounts of Opiates.

I agree who fucking cares, he's a grown man who can make his own decision regarding his life and his future….. as long as he shows restraint and self control good for him!

I want to see how the Rangers handle this. They had a coke using manager and stood by him and he just received a nice contract extension. So lets see if they are as tolerate and forgiving with Hamilton!
