Gary Carter lost his battle at 57!

Brain Cancer took the Kid at 4:10 this afternoon. Thanks Kid for your toughness and clutch play. It was your basehit with 2 out in the 10th that kept the Mets alive in game 6 of the 1986 WS.
The two toughest catchers that I saw were Carter and Dude Stearns. Noone wanted to fight either of these guys!
RIP KID!

Was just about to post this Big J!

A horrible end to a great Met! Will always be grateful for 1986. You and Mex provided many great moments during your time with NY and if this is the last championship the Mets ever see the memories will not soon be forgotten.

RIP Kid!

Hate to hear this. I remember him in spring training in Daytona in '78' while playing for the Expos. If there was ever a baseball player that was as nice as a hockey player, it was Gary Carter. R.I.P.

He was before my time, but a buddy of mine is a HUGE Expos fan and still is, oddly enough.

RIP.

A great obit on Gary. What is with these brain tumors and baseball players?

Dick Howser
Johnny Oates
Tug McGraw
Dan Quisenberry
Kenny Brett
all come to mind.

Remember Carter's first game as a Met when Ralph Kiner introduced him as Gary Cooper?
