Former player Ryan Freel commits suicide
Ryan Freel, a former baseball player and Toronto Blue Jays draft pick, has reportedly died at the age of 36. The cause of death has been ruled a suicide, according to First Coast News.
Freel was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 10th round of the 1995 amateur draft and spent six years in the team's minor league system before making his MLB debut in 2001. He played six games for the Blue Jays before signing with the Cincinnati Reds the following season. Freel also spent time with the Orioles, Cubs and Royals during his eight-year career. After retiring from baseball in 2010, Freel coached local youth baseball in Northeast Florida before being hired as head coach at St. Joseph Academy in June. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/201...freel_suicide/
