Ordonez will lose 50 points off his average, Sheffield will be on the DL atleast twice if not suspended and Guillen is not really that good. Granderson is a very good player and Cabrera is a stud but you have to worry about the age and health of the starting lineup. Pitching will be key but outside of Verlander there really is not that much there. Rodgers is old, Willis is vastly overrated and Bonderman's arm will blow out at some point. I hate the Indians and White Sox but I really don't think the Tigers are better then either one . . maybe the Sox.

Sure I would and just about every team in the league would want Ordonez in right field. I am just being objective here, you don't have any doubts about the Tigers lineup? I know after the acquisition of Cabrera that most pundits had the Tigers leapfrogging the tribe and representing the AL in the world series but I just have serious doubts escpecially with so many players coming off career years.

My only worry offensively is if they can get chemistry going, not a hole in the lineup. Pitching does worry me, but not so much the starters as the bullpen. Anytime you resign Todd "rollercoaster" Jones and have jason " No stuff" Grilli along with a busted wing on zumaya, that makes me worry.

I would be concerned about the starters escpecially Bonderman, he has so much promise but just can't seem to get away from the elbow problems. I see your concern with the bullpen but one thing the Tigers have proven the last couple of years is they are not afraid of throwing money or players at the problem. I would not be surprised to see them with a new closer by the deadline . .possibly Chad Cordero.

i think the closer that they have now is fine. sure he may be old, but that means he wont have a meltdown come playoffs. i think that they should trade bonderman and get a pitcher that doesnt have the injury problems

Well I hope you are right about getting a new closer. Tj has the worst stuff of any closer in the league. He pretty much paints corners at one speed and hopes they hit it at somebody.

Bonderman has the elbow issue becuasae of his filthy stuff. He throws a nasty curve that is terror on the elbow. I guess we will have to play the season before I claim the pennant for the tigs.

The situation with bonderman reminds me of what happened to Fransisco Liriano in Minnesota. He had a wicked slider and was the favorite to win AL Rookie of the Year but the ace's rookie year was cut short cuz he screwed up his elbow and had to have Tommy John's surgery.

I know it's early to beotch about the excess baggage on the club, but I can't help thinking about having a wonderful season and playoff run and watching rollercoaster implode ala trevor hoffman last year.

Word out of camp is that Cabrera is in good shape but they have been able to sign him.

The 2008 Detroit Tigers

Well with Spring ball in full swing, I thought it was about time to start up the tigers talk. With a 17-4 opener with dingers from everybody, I can't help but to be excited about the tigs chances this year.

Stacked line-up, decent pitching, good manager, is this the recipe for a world series ring? Is chemistry going to be a problem?

Your thoughts.

Go Tigs

Good news on Zumaya ahead of recovery schedule. We need him back and 100% to be a force
