He becomes much better, they can't always pitch around the guy now. I think he gets platooned between first and dh.

Detroit radio is playing with him going back to the hot corner, but I think he needs to shed a few lbs to have any range

It's will be a tough adjustment going from NL to the AL. If Verlander, Cabrera, and Fielder have their typical season this is one dangerous team!

Getting the privledge to see Fielder destroy the Pirates for the past few years I can say he is the best slugger I've seen. He just crushes every ball. However, he will need to move from the field to DH if he plans on playing out this contract. His weight on those knees is bound to catch up to him.

And when Victor Martinez comes back from his knee injury, Detroit will have 3 very well paid DH's...

Exactly right, platooned them at 1st and DH with Cabrera spotting at 3rd is the word which fills that weakness of Inge bat and Inge for late inning D.

9 year deal.

Playoff team for the next 5+ years, no excuses.

Someone said the Tigers food bill with the Prince and Cabrera could bankrupt the team!
The Tigers hired Boog Powell to be the new team nutrionist!
Two things:
Glad he's in the AL and nice to see he is with his old man team'.

Fielder at 1st and Cabrera at 3rd may be the worst defense on the corners in all of baseball.

Fielder actually plays 1B pretty well. At least when he played against us he did a good job and a lot better then some of the other less heavy first basemen.

Thing is if he wants to extend his career he needs to DH.

Yeah he only lead MLB in errors for 1b. Followed closely by the suicide by cop wife beating Piguel Fatbrera.

This will make the Tigers much more dangerous next year. Just imagine if V-Mart heals quicker and comes back for playoffs.

That deal is absurd though. I can see Prince being a fat(fatter) washed bum in 3-4 years and $24m/year is way too high to pay anyone. That being said, I can't blame Illitch for giving him the money as he wants the Tigers to win another WS before he dies and this may give them the best chance. They should go trade for Matt Garza now to soidfy their starting rotation. Verlander/Fister/Garza/Scherzer/Porcello along with their bats will make for a very tough team to beat imo.

Is garza even no the trade block?

I would trade porcello for rosin bag, three rolls of tape and 32 dollars
