Pour Georges Laraque, les joueurs ne connaissent pas la vraie pression

MONTREAL - Après une année complète avec le Canadien de Montréal, Georges Laraque n'a qu'une seule chose à dire aux joueurs qui se plaignent de la fameuse "pression" médiatique: ils ne savent pas ce que le mot veut dire.

"Je m'y attendais mais, de toute façon, je ne trouve pas que c'est de la pression. Pour moi, personnellement, la pression ce sont des familles qui travaillent de 9 à 5 et qui doivent se trouver une deuxième ou une troisième job pour pouvoir nourrir leur famille. Ça, c'est de la pression."

L'homme fort du Tricolore était de passage dans une école secondaire de Montréal, lundi, pour y rencontrer des jeunes de minorités visibles et de milieux défavorisés pour les encourager à persévérer et à garder espoir afin d'atteindre leurs rêves.

En entrevue avec La Presse Canadienne, il a cependant reconnu que cette notion de pression était devenue un boulet pour l'organisation du Canadien.

"Je sais que plusieurs joueurs ne veulent pas venir à Montréal. Ils trouvent que la pression médiatique est trop élevée ici. C'est pour cela que ça va être dur pour cette équipe-là de signer des joueurs autonomes."

Selon lui, toutefois, tout n'est qu'une question d'attitude.

George was a guest speaker at a school on monday, he spoke to minority group about his story on the dirversitys of life, growing up as a minority, an told the kids never to give up on the dreams....

In the last part George talks about the fact that the media does put alot of pressure on the team, much more than any other Hockey franchise. He also admitts he knows alot of players that will not come play in Montreal because of the intense media pressure....He also states that the team is in a disadvantage in signing unrestricted free agents because of the intense media scrutiny, that the players an the organization goes through in Montreal....
