Komets IHL Champs for Third Straight Year
FORT WAYNE, IN - The Fort Wayne Komets defeated the Flint Generals 3-2 Saturday night to capture their seventh Turner Cup Championship as a member of the International Hockey League. The Komets won the series 4-1 to earn their first-ever back-to-back-to-back championships in their 58-year franchise history.
The Komets began the scoring late in the opening period when left wing Matt Syroczynski chipped in a pass at the top of the crease, scoring his 11th goal of the playoffs. The Komets continued the scoring into the second stanza, adding two goals from left wing P.C. Drouin (4, 5). The Generals scored twice in the third period with the first coming from right wing John Ronan at the 4:29 mark and defenseman Jake Pence added a second for Flint at the 13 minute mark, but the comeback would fall short as the Komets skated away with the 3-2 win. Boucher earned his fourth win of the series between the pipes, making 19 of 21 saves while Flint goaltender Rob Nolan made 39 of 42 saves in the loss. Syroczynski was named the International Hockey League’s 2010 Turner Cup Playoff Most Valuable Player. He scored six goals and dished out two assists in the championship series, including a three-goal hat trick Wednesday during Game Three in Flint. He posted a total of 16 points (11 goals, five assists) in the 12 playoff games played by the Komets. |

Umm yeah shouldn't this have just been posted at the start of the year, because everyone knows the Frankes own the league and bend the rules. The biggest thing about this is the are ruining the Komets history with these 3 fake championships. Have fun hanging those banners that no one cares about in your building. This is just plain stupid and I don't think many people even care because they knew they would win.

One it's The Ft. Wayne KOMETS!!!! Learn how to spell. For starters I am a Ft. Wayne Komets fan by choice and a Dayton Gems fan by location. I am truly sorry that whatever team you are a fan of lost but you can't blame the Komets or the Franke's for that. In fact if it weren't for the Franke's you wouldn't have a team to vote for anyway. If you are going to criticize somebody I suggest next time you use a dictionary before you do or at least take some grammar classes. I was at the game on Saturday and there were bad calls made on both teams. Again if it weren't for the Franke's I would have no local team to watch next year and neither would you unless you are a Muskegon fan (HA HA HA) The Komets 3 PEAT is an accomplishment that hasn't happened since the 50's and the 10,000 plus fans that were on hand for the game on Saturday would beg to differ about it meaning nothing to anyone. So if you're tired of being a fan of a losing team either move to Ft. Wayne or shut up. And since some of you think you are a "Big Deal" you might want to think again because you never know who you're actually "talking" to online. You never know it might be a player, owner, fan hmmm who knows. By the way this reply is for ALL 3 of you that posted on here with bad spelling, grammar and not being able to know the Team Names that you are bad mouthing. I for one, would rather watch a bad hockey game than no hockey game at all. Have a nice day!!

Thanks for that piercing bit of insight Captain Douchenozzle.
I dont care if youre a player, fan, Ronald McDonald, Osama Bin Laden, or my own mother. Unless you tell us who you are (which you wont, and if you did, no one would believe you anyways) it would not matter one bit. I actually hope you are someone of importance, although I highly doubt it due to the classic "learn to spell" comments, so you can relay these posts back to your superiors. Also, you admitted to being a fan twice.... If you worked for the league like some of us do, you would know youre not allowed to show any kind of biased opinions or fanship. None of the owners post on this site, they visit, but they don't post. If you were a player you'd know who i am in person. So no one cares who you are. Go buy another 3 PEAT tshirt and enjoy it while the Komets arent in the ECHL.

Won their Division and lost in game 5 of the first round pretty good for a expansion team.

You are clearly a kid or haven't been a fan for a while because the Komets have a great history but it is tarnished with these fake championships. All the old records in the Ihl they had should have stayed the way they were and not be messed with, in this ****ing joke league. If you feel better at night knowing that your teams owners bought you those 3 Kups you won, then have at it but take your blinders off and realize that no one cares and it is a joke. Once the Komets switch leagues and can't control their teams and players every move then we will see how much stuff changes. I am sure they will go to the Chl though so they can still dictate what goes on with their team. Come on over to the echl and I bet you have a rough go of it and can't have your Kup every year. |

i apologize to Kwnger for only being able to thank him ONCE for that post.
Bitch get with the program. The new IHL is considered the garbage league in the 3 AA leagues. Fortunatly for the IHL, which I will give props about, is that were players that made history and made the league what it was. Thatd be Robin Bouchard, Todd Robinson, Shafronov, Smolinski, Rheaume, Syro, Leo Thomas, DuPuis, Craig Mac, Booras (Montana pride!), Petro, Lindberg, Levesque, fxck....i could go on all night. Lets get real tho... Muskegon had the big guns and went to gay ass juniors. You think all these players are gonna stay with AA? Do you even realize what they pay in the EIHL or overseas in general?! Do us all a favor and gargle broken glass kiddo.

Has the IHL even been hard fought this playoff year? I mean, has their been fights...scrums....or are the refs basically on the payroll, and everyone realizes it'll be an act of god for anyone other than the Komets to win?
Bring back Derek Parker. Bring back Trevor Senn |
