Komets 2009 playoffs MVP David Hukalo announces retirement

The Komets' transition continued Thursday as another veteran announced his retirement. After meeting with team management and not being offered another contract, forward David Hukalo said it was time for him to try another profession.

“I want some kind of team to give me the same kind of contract or even better, but I'm not traveling all over everywhere else with my family,” Hukalo said. “I've been thinking of moving on and getting a job the last couple of years. I could probably play another four or five years, but there comes a time when you have to say, ‘That's it.' ”
