Fort Wayne claims Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn off waivers
Fort Wayne, IN - The Komets announced Thursday that left winger Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn has been added to the Fort Wayne lineup. Versteeg-Lytwyn, 22, is in his third pro year after starting the season in the CHL appearing in stints with Rocky Mountain (9 games, 2 goals, 8 penalty minutes) and Rapid City (1 game, 0 points). Versteeg-Lytwyn joined the Flint Generals in November and registered four goals and 12 points in 20 games before being placed on waivers earlier this week.
Versteeg-Lytwyn (vir-STEEG LIT-win) started his pro career with the Kalamazoo Wings in 2006-07 where he skated two seasons posting 26 goals, 48 points in 141 games while accumulating 144 penalty minutes. The Sharon, Ontario native is expected to be in the lineup when the Komets host Kalamazoo Friday at 8pm. The Wings clipped the visiting Flint Generals Wednesday night 3-2 in overtime to pull within three points of first-place Port Huron and snap their losing streak at three games. A seven-point spread separates the Komets, Kalamazoo, Muskegon and Port Huron in the race at the top of the IHL standings.
