Sundogs Sign Gord Burnett

Prescott Valley, AZ – The Arizona Sundogs announced today that defenseman Gord Burnett has signed with the team for the upcoming 2012-2013 season with the Central Hockey League.

This will be the 31-year-old’s, seventh pro season. Burnett began his pro career with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL in 2006-2007, where he had 9 assists and racked up 189 penalty minutes in 50 games. In 2007-2008 he split his time between the Youngstown Steelhounds and the Laredo Bucks playing his best season thus far with 14 points and 225 penalty minutes between both teams. During the 2008-2009 season Burnett skated in 9 games with the Trenton Devils before being acquired by the Phoenix Roadrunners where he collected 6 points and 100 penalty minutes.

He again started the 2009-2010 season with the Trenton Devils, after the Phoenix Roadrunners folded in the summer leading up to the season. Burnett dressed in 13 games making 1 assist and accumulating 58 minutes in penalties. Before being traded in 2010-2011 to the Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL, he skated in 2 games with the Trenton Devils and made 2 goals. While with the Kings he collected 3 points (1 goal and 2 assists) and 87 penalty minutes in 34 games. In 2011-2012 he collected 5 points (2 goals and 3 assist) amassing an impressive 200 penalty minutes while with the Colorado Eagles.

From 2002-2006 he spent his four-year college career playing for St. Scholastica tallying 12 goals and 24 assists in 104 games.

Sucks hes leaving the ECHL, but I am glad he signed somewhere. Fun guy to watch.
