INDEPENDENCE, Missouri – The Missouri Mavericks announced Wednesday the Central Hockey League (CHL) club has signed forward Andrew Courtney. The second-year forward returns to the Mavericks after being named to the CHL's all-rookie team last season. Courtney, 27 (6/8/85), returns to the Mavericks after tying the team's single-season record for goals (29) during the 2011-12 season, his rookie campaign. The 6-foot-3, 209-pound forward finished with 29 goals and 30 assists for 59 points in 63 games last season with the Mavericks and was named to the CHL's all-rookie team. A native of Belleville, Ontario, Courtney played in all 11 of the Mavericks' playoff games last season and finished third on the team with 12 points (5-7=12). He played seven games for Missouri at the end of the 2010-11 season and scored his first three professional goals by recording a hat-trick in a 7-0 win over the Mississippi RiverKings. Prior to joining the Mavericks, Courtney played 106 games over the course of five seasons with the University of Lethbridge where he accounted for 72 points (44-28=72) and 172 penalty minutes. |
