Mallards Sign Brett Robinson; Waive Eddie Effinger
The Quad City Mallards have signed forward Brett Robinson and waived forward Eddie Effinger, the Mallards announced today.
Robinson, 27, started the season with the Greenville Road Warriors of the ECHL, for whom he played two games and picked up an assist. Last year Robinson scored 20 goals and totaled 39 points in 64 games with the Road Warriors. “Brett’s been a proven, productive player in the ECHL who has the ability to make us a deeper team up front,” said Mallards coach and general manager Terry Ruskowski. “We’re excited about what he’ll be able to bring to our club. He can certainly contribute offensively but he also plays a strong two-way game.” Now in his fourth season, Robinson broke into professional hockey with the ECHL’s Cincinnati Cyclones, with whom he spent his first two campaigns. The Alton, Ontario, native has scored 41 goals and produced 90 points in 149 career games. The 5’ 11”, 190-pound Robinson turned pro after four years at Mercyhurst College, where he scored 26 times and recorded 82 points in 144 games as a Laker between 2005 and 2009. Effinger scored once and added two assists in five games with the Mallards this season. |
