Denver, Colo. – The Denver Cutthroats announced today that defenseman Sean Zimmerman will return for his third consecutive season with the team.

During the Cutthroats 2013-14 season, Zimmerman anchored the top defensive pairing to shut down some of the Central Hockey League’s best offensive players, while contributing three goals, eight assists and 112 penalty minutes in 66 games. He was an integral part of the Cutthroats run to the Ray Miron Presidents’ Cup Finals and played all 16 games in the playoffs to record four assists and 26 penalty minutes.

Drafted in the sixth round by the New Jersey Devils in 2005, the defenseman played 274 games in the American Hockey League to notch 31 total points with 26 assists and 274 penalty minutes in seven seasons. The Denver, Colo. native joined the Cutthroats during the team’s inaugural season to tally 77 penalty minutes with 13 assists in 61 regular season games and 33 penalty minutes in five postseason games.
