1- Four teams have qualified for the Ray Miron President’s Cup playoffs with two more on the verge of clinching their spots as soon as this week. Colorado, Mississippi, Bossier-Shreveport and Texas all sewed up their chance at hoisting the cup last week and Odessa and Oklahoma City could clinch a berth as soon as their next game out. The Jacks magic number is two points between themselves and Arizona (any combination of Odessa points or the Sundogs missing out on earning points) and three points with Corpus Christi. The Blazers magic number is two points between themselves and Rapid City. OKC hosts Bossier-Shreveport on Wednesday and could wrap up their spot then and Odessa is home to Mississippi on Tuesday. The Sundogs also play on Tuesday night at Rio Grande Valley.
2- Two of the four CHL divisions are close to being decided even though it’s not the end of February. Odessa could be the first team to claim a division crown leading the second place Arizona Sundogs by 23 points in the Southwest Division with 12 games remaining. Just two points for the Jacks or Arizona losing the chance at gaining two points will earn Odessa their first division title since the 2005-06 season. The Colorado Eagles are also on the verge of clinching their sixth straight Northwest Division title. The Eagles are in front of the Rocky Mountain Rage by 18 points with Rocky Mountain having just 11 games remaining on their schedule. Colorado is at Tulsa on Tuesday and the Rage play at Rapid City on Wednesday.
3- The CHL’s Hat Trick for Kids program hit a milestone this past weekend with Bossier-Shreveport’s Neil Clark recording a hat trick in the Mudbugs victory on Friday night at Arizona. Clark’s hat trick is the 40th of the season in the CHL pushing the total donated in the Hat Tricks for Kids program to $1,000.00. Infinity Pro Sports is paying $25.00 for every hat trick in the CHL throughout the regular season. For more information about the program, visit http://www.hattricksforkids.org/.
4- The Tulsa Oilers home broadcasts are now available on The CHL Network. Catch the Oilers as they host the Colorado Eagles on Tuesday night LIVE from the BOK Center. The “Voice of the Oilers” Steve McCall provides the play-by-play in the only high-def broadcast available on The CHL Network. For more information, visit http://www.nifty-tv.com/chl/.
