Americans Announce Affiliation with Houston Aeros

Allen Texas- The Allen Americans of the Central Hockey League, in conjunction with the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey league, announced on Wednesday an affiliation agreement for the 2012-13 season

“The Allen Americans are a model franchise in the CHL,” said Jim Mill. “They have a great building and a strong ownership group that includes former NHLers Steve Duchesne, Mike Modano, Craig Ludwig and Ed Belfour. With our proximity to Allen, it makes perfect sense for us to have a few players develop within their organization.”

The Americans have two players on their current roster via Houston, forward Ryley Grantham, and defenseman Mike Montgomery who were both assigned to Allen in early October.

“I’m excited that we were able to get this done,” said Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. “Ryley Grantham was given the opportunity to go to camp with the Houston Aeros and Mike Montgomery was assigned to us from Houston. That’s the way an affiliation works with players coming to us and the opportunity for our guys to move up. I look forward to working with both Jim Mill and John Torchetti this season to help both organizations as needed.”
