Amarillo waives Jason Hill and Dan McNeill, signs Chris Cloud

Amarillo, TX 11/3/09 - The Amarillo Gorillas have waived forwards Jason Hill & Dan McNeill and signed forward Chris Cloud, the team announced Wednesday.

Hill recorded three points (1-2-3) over eight games with the Gorillas after arriving in the Panhandle from a trade with the Rapid City Rush for future considerations prior to the beginning of the regular season.

McNeill garnered two points (0-2-2) and 16 penalty minutes over seven games with Amarillo.

Currently in his first professional year, Cloud, 21 (10/22/1988), skated in three games with the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers this season and played last year with the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds. The Waywayseecappo, Manitoba (200 miles West of Winnipeg) native thrived with Seattle last season, earning single-season career-highs in goals (15), assists (19), and penalty minutes (143) over 68 games.

I have no clue as to why McNeil would get waived. That guy was great in Flint last season. Played really well and fought when needed. It dont make any sense. If he was a crummy player it would but hes not.

I suck as a player too, but that happens when you have your hips rebuilt a few times.

I liked McNeill, he seemed like a good kid. His willingness to stick up for his teammates was a welcomed sight.

He struggled with balance a bit in the fights that I saw. But when he kept his edges dug in, he could really throw them. And he didn't seem like he would back down from anyone. I will miss him.

On the positional play, he did not have the quickness, defensive skill or instincts of the rest of the blueliners. I think they even tried him out as a rotational 3rd line forward to see if he could stick. I think he just became the weak line when roster moves needed to be made to handle injuries.

Hopefully he lands somewhere, maybe in Flint.
