Allen Signs Brad Gallant
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans came to terms on Friday with right-wing power-forward, Brad Gallant, on a one-year contract for the 2012-2013 season.
He spent the last four seasons with St Thomas University, in the CIS, from 2008-2012. Gallant's best season came in 2012, when he had 16 points in 26 games. Prior to that, he spent three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior League from 2005-2008, two seasons with Cape Breton, and one with Prince Edward Island. Gallant was born on July 4, 1987, in Summerside, PEI. The rookie power-forward stands 6’5 and weighs in at 200 pounds. “Brad is a hard-nosed hockey player,” said Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. “I saw him in camp with Syracuse a few years back while I was coaching in Elmira. He’s tough kid, much like his brother Brett, who played several games at the American Hockey League level with both Bridgeport and Syracuse.” Gallant is the fifth player signing announced by the Americans this off-season. Joining Gallant on that list of signees is Jason Deitsch, Tyler Ludwig, Jarret Lukin and Nino Musitelli. The Americans are set to open their 4th training camp this October, in Allen. Brett is tougher but Brad is by far a better player.
Their younger brother Alex was involved in a plethora of highlight-reel fights in the Q last year.
