Walleye Sign Doug Clarkson and Dale Warkentin

(Toledo, OH) - Forward Doug Clarkson and Defenseman Dale Warkentin (WAR-kent-ihn) have each agreed to terms with the Toledo Walleye for the 2011-12 season.

Clarkson played last season in the Canadian College ranks with Nipissing University where he scored 17 goals with 17 assists to go along with 77 penalty minutes in just 26 games. Doug is the younger brother of New Jersey Devils forward David Clarkson.

Head Coach Nick Vitucci said "He has great size and strength, with a flair for offense. He is a crasher from the forward position." Doug has appeared in 48 career games in the Ontario Hockey League, collecting 14 points (6g, 8a) and 67 penalty minutes.

Warkentin spent four years (2007-2011) with the OCN Blizzard of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. "He is a big strapping defenseman who has great mobility, a cannon of a shot and brings overall toughness," said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. In 2009-10, the twenty-two year old collected 41 points (13g, 28a) and 116 penalty minutes in 62 contests. Dale was named to the MJHL First All-Star Team in 2010, and was Second All-Star Team in 2011.
