Titans Re-Sign Drew Akins; Sign Alexandre Beauregard

TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Titans, members of the ECHL and proud affiliate the National Hockey League's Philadelphia Flyers, have announced they have signed center Drew Akins to a contract, while agreeing to terms with left winger Alexandre Beauregard.

Akins, a hard-working, fourth year pro from Excelsior, MN, quickly endeared himself to Titans' fans with his gritty, relentless play. Starting his career in Gwinnett, Akins came to Trenton for the final 12 games last season after a stint in Chicago, gathering three goals and three assists in that span.

"He is a versatile forward that can play in all positions and the ability to play in all situations," said Titans' Head Coach Vince Williams. "He is a person of great character and a true professional."

"I really enjoyed my time in Trenton last year and I'm very excited to come back. We have a great fan base and we I think we owe it to them to be a top contender," Akins commented. "We have a great coaching staff and a good core of new and returning players who are really going to help us be competitive this season."

The 6-3, 196 pound Bearugard is also known for a physical style of play. The St Jerome, PQ, Canada native played the last four years in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, recording 359 penalty minutes. He scored 16 points while helping the St John Sea Dogs win the Memorial Cup title in 2010-11.

"(Alexandre) is a strong power forward that plays a physical game and with an edge," Williams said. "He certainly makes our team bigger and stronger."
