Boise, ID – Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Saturday that the ECHL’s
Idaho Steelheads have agreed to terms with three forwards – Ron Meyers, Taylor McReynolds, and Andrew Wright.
The three will be in Boise when training camp begins on October 1 at CenturyLink Arena.
Meyers is headed back to Boise after being a late addition to the Steelhead roster last spring out of Alaska-Fairbanks. The 24-year-old speedster, nicknamed “The Cowboy,” was an instant fan favorite with his all-out style of play. In 22 total games between the regular season and postseason, Meyers had five goals and seven assists in his first professional action.
McReynolds comes to Idaho from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), an NCAA Division 1 college program in New York. McReynolds twice won the Greg Moss Hard Hat award, given to the RIT player who competes at a consistently high level with little fanfare, and also earned the Lou Spiotti Coaches Award after his senior season. He finished his college career with 39 points (13 goals, 26 assists) and RIT was 26-5-4 in games where he had at least one point. He’s also the school’s all-time leader in penalty minutes (336).
Wright, who turns 23 in October, just completed a four-year college career at Canada’s McGill University. He netted 26 goals and added 60 assists in 95 games, averaging nearly one point per game. One of those points was an assist on the game-winning, overtime goal last spring to lift McGill to the Canadian collegiate national championship.
