Orlando, FL - The
Orlando Solar Bears announced today that they have acquired goaltender Andrew Engelage from the
Utah Grizzlies in exchange for future considerations.
Engelage (6'5", 192 lbs.) played 51 games for the
Utah Grizzlies last season, compiling a 25-21-0-3 record with a 2.63 GAA and .911 save percentage. He has spent parts of three seasons playing in the ECHL with Reading and Utah, appearing in 102 games with a 51-37-3-5 record, 5 shutouts, a 2.83 GAA, and .909 save percentage. He has played 12 games for the
Toronto Marlies of the AHL (American Hockey League), and has been awarded as the ECHL's Goaltender of the Week on four occasions.
The Oshawa, Ontario, native skated for three seasons in the OHL (Ontario Hockey League) before joining the professional ranks, all with the
Windsor Spitfires. In his final OHL season in 2008-09, Engelage finished the season with a 46-4-1 record to go along with a 2.35 GAA and .914 save percentage. That year, he backstopped his team to both OHL and Memorial Cup Championships.
