Reading, PA – The
Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the
Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the
Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed goaltender Drew MacIntyre to an ECHL contract.
MacIntyre (6’1/193) (29), a tenth year pro from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, played two games with Prague Lev this season in the Kontinental Hockey League, compiling an 0-1-1 record with a 2.92 goals against average and a .891 save percentage. MacIntyre, a fourth round pick of the
Detroit Red Wings in 2001, has played the majority of his pro career in the AHL, where he has gone 150-97-15 in 284 career games with five different teams. MacIntyre, who has appeared in four NHL games with the
Vancouver Canucks and
Buffalo Sabres, has had several notable seasons in the AHL, including 2008-09 when he led the league with thirty-four wins for the
Milwaukee Admirals. MacIntyre, who has recorded seventeen career pro shutouts, registered five straight seasons in the AHL with twenty or more wins. In 2011, he led the
Hamilton Bulldogs to the Western Conference Calder Cup Finals with the league’s best post-season goals against average at 1.95. The last time MacIntyre played in the ECHL, with the Toledo (then-)Storm in 2005-06, he compiled a record of 24-7-2 with a league best 2.06 goals against average and the third best save percentage in the league at .926.
