Reign Sign D.J. King

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, defending Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, announced they have added former St. Louis Blues and Washington Capitals winger, D.J. King, to their roster.

King spent the bulk of the 2011-12 season playing for Hershey of the AHL. In 29 games with the Bears, King recorded four points (0g, 4a). He also accumulated 13 penalty minutes and was a -7. King also skated in four playoff games with Hershey, tallying one point (1g, 0a). He also had a one-game appearance with the Washington Capitals.

The 28-year-old King was a sixth-round draft pick of the St. Louis Blues as the 190th overall selection of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. A native of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, King played in a total of 101 games with the Blues where he scored four goals and assisted on five for a total of nine points.

King played an additional 16 games with the Washington Capitals during the 2010-11 season. While there, he added two assists and 30 penalty minutes to his NHL totals.

The 6-foot-3, 231 pound left winger last skated in the ECHL during the 2005-06 season, when he played in five games for the Alaska Aces.

King made his professional debut after three seasons in the Western Hockey League, split between the Lethbridge Hurricanes and the Kelowna Rockets, playing in 183 games, scoring 86 points (38g, 48a). In his final junior season with Kelowna, he helped the Rockets capture the 2004 Memorial Cup.

King is expected to dress tonight and will wear number 19 against the Stockton Thunder.

it's via his agent...sometimes it takes teams a day or two to announce moves.

Well good to see D.J. playing again. Can't believe he's not in the A.

Honestly, of all the teams in the ECHL, he goes to one of the few teams who doesn't need his services in terms of toughness? Unless he's looking to impress the Kings/Ducks who are nearby, why go to the toughest team in the league?

Lets face the truth.
The Ducks coach never dressed King when they were both together in Washington and they already have Leblond and Rosehill in Norfolk. I dont think there is even a
1 % chance that the Ducks will sign King.

The Sharks or Kings could need him but well..

I guess he only went to Ontario because they were prolly the only team who gave him a chance..

Don't forget though he barely fought in Hershey last year when demoted so don't get your hopes up too high for him to be throwing down.

I gotta imagine it's just to be close to his brother.

Hopefully he wants to make it back to The Show. If so, this could get ugly.

I have to agree there is NO WAY he has a chance with the Ducks as long as Boudreau is with the organization. Boudreau didn't play him in Washington which resulted in his being waived and demoted to Hershey. Once he hit Hershey he just coasted his way through the rest of his contract (as his stats show... 29 games, 0 goals, 4 assists 13 yes THIRTEEN penalty minutes and -7). Guy wouldn't stick up for team mates, wouldn't hit... just skated around collecting his paycheck. After watching that in Hershey, as far as I'm concerned the guy deserves to start from the bottom of the barrel again.

King had his first ECHL fighting major tonight, against fellow WHL alum Garet Hunt.

Besides, Rosehill's perhaps a better option anyway. He's played a lot more the last couple seasons and can keep up a bit better.
