Reign Sign Cameron Burt
ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, 2011-12 Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, have announced the return of forward Cameron Burt.
"I'm looking forward to coming back with a core group of guys we had last year and push for the championship again," Burt said. "I'm ready to become a better player by learning from the older guys and the veterans." Burt, 25, returns to the Reign for his second appearance with the club. Last season the Detroit, MI native landed in Ontario on March 21 just in time to finish out the final seven games of the regular season and play in four playoff games. He earned two points (1g, 1a) during the regular season. In his first professional game with the Reign he scored the final goal of the night against the Stockton Thunder in a 4-1 victory. "Whenever you can win a division, it's a testament to the team. We'll be taking it game by game and improving from last year," Burt said. "I'm excited to come back and play in the arena. The fans are great, and I'm looking to put together some wins to get more fans out to the games and make the most of the season." Prior to turning pro, the 5-foot-10, 170-pound forward played for the Rochester Institute of Technology for four seasons. The Tigers made it to the AHA Championship Finals in 2012 but fell to Air Force 4-0. During the 2011-12 season, Burt played in 38 games for R.I.T. earning 31 points (8g, 23a) and 60 penalty minutes. From 2008-11 he recorded 107 points (35g, 72a) and 126 penalty minutes in 109 games with the Tigers. Burt played two seasons in the Eastern Junior Hockey League (EJHL) and split one between the EJHL and USHL. During his junior years he tallied 114 points (34g, 80a) and 249 penalty minutes in 149 games. |
