Nailers Sign Tim Corcoran

The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens are excited to announce a transaction for the upcoming season. Wheeling has signed defenseman Tim Corcoran to a one-year ECHL contract.

"Tim comes to us as a first year pro, who is a solid defenseman, with a strong work ethic," said head coach Clark Donatelli. "I know that he is excited to begin his pro career, and we are just as excited to help him make this jump," he said.

Corcoran, 24, joins the Nailers as a rookie, following a four-year collegiate career at University of Massachusetts-Lowell, where he majored in Business Management. Before going to college, Tim played one season with the EJHL's Bay State Breakers, where he dished out nine assists in 23 games. In the fall of 2008, the Milton, MA native began his career with the Riverhawks, appearing in three games as a freshman, followed by 11 as a sophomore, 20 as a junior, and 25 as a senior. Corcoran's senior year of 2011-12 was his most productive, as he recorded one goal and three assists. Tim's defensive abilities were his biggest strengths at UMass-Lowell, as his plus/minus was positive or even in 32 of his final 45 games.

"I am very excited for the opportunity to start my professional career with the Nailers next season," said Corcoran. "Wheeling is a great organization, and I am looking forward to being a part of it," he said.
