PRINCETON, N.J. - For the first time since 1999, and only the seventh time since 1991-92, there were three hat tricks scored in an ECHL game when Texas beat Mississippi 10-5 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Saturday. Since 1991-92 there have been 120 games with two hat tricks including four times this season.

The first time there were three hat tricks in an ECHL game was Jan. 24, 1992 when Columbus beat Knoxville 12-4. Trent Kaese and Kevin Alexander each had three goals for Columbus and Greg Pankewicz had three goals for Knoxville.

Three times in league history there have been three hat tricks scored by a single team. Kurt Kabat, Victor Gervais and Brian Martin of Hampton Roads each scored three goals in a 9-4 win against Roanoke on Mar. 16, 1993. Brandon Coates scored four goals and Gerry Daley and Tim Sullivan each scored three goals as Nashville beat Huntington 16-3 on Jan. 30, 1994. Considering how much the ECHL game has changed since the early days, to have any individual performances nowadays match something from the early days is quite an accomplishment.
