ESTERO, FL –
Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms with Defenseman Sean Whitney for the 2012-13 season.
Whitney, 23, is a graduate of Cornell University. Last season, the 6-4, 195-pound blue liner appeared in 35 games for Cornell posting 11 points, scoring two goals and adding nine assists. .
The Scituate, Massachusetts native played in 101 games accumulating 30 points, scoring seven goals and 23 assists during his four-year collegiate career.
“Sean is a big-bodied, and very intelligent defenseman,” said coach Poss. “Sean has the ability to stabilize our back end.”
Everblades fans may already be familiar with Whitney who has played at Germain Arena during the annual College Classic over the past four years. He is also the younger brother of nine-year NHL veteran
Ryan Whitney, who is currently playing for the
Edmonton Oilers.
