Eagles Sign Collin Bowman
LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles of the ECHL, affiliate of the NHL's Winnipeg Jets & the AHL's St. John's IceCaps, announced today the signing of amateur defenseman Collin Bowman, a native of Littleton, Colo. Bowman's brother, Drayson, plays for the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes, for whom he was a third round draft pick in 2007.
"Collin is a solid young player with a well-rounded game," said Eagles general manager & head coach Chris Stewart. "His ability to put up points while maintaining an abrasive defensive game is extremely unique for a player his age. He had several teams vying for his services, and we're pleased that he chose to sign with us, his hometown team."
A 6-foot-2-inch, 205-pound defenseman, Bowman is coming off an amateur career in Canada's Western Hockey League that spanned parts of six seasons. From 2006-07 to 2009-10, the d-man played in 206 games with the Kelowna Rockets, claiming the WHL championship with recently signed goalie Adam Brown in 2008-09.
After his stint with Kelowna, Bowman captained the Moose Jaw Warriors in 2010-11 and began last season with the Warriors as well before finishing up the year with the Calgary Hitmen. In 346 WHL games, the blueliner recorded 149 points (35-114-149) and 364 penalty minutes. Over the past two seasons, he's registered 94 points and 174 PIMs in 140 games, while adding nine points in 11 playoff contests.
