LOVELAND, Colo. - The
Colorado Eagles of the ECHL announced today that they have re-signed ECHL MVP
Chad Costello for the 2012-13 season. Costello -- who was the third Eagles player in as many seasons to be named league MVP -- recorded 76 points (29-47-76) in just 47 games of an injury-shortened season; his 1.62 points-per-game average was the league's best.
His strong performance in the ECHL led to two separate call-ups to the American Hockey League, along with several other honors at the ECHL level. He was named one of just three forwards on the All-ECHL 1st Team, he was named one of Colorado's Silver Skaters in lieu of a league All-Star honor and he compiled the best plus/minus rating in the ECHL through the month of December (+19). Costello finished the season tied for 4th in points (76), tied for 10th in goals (29), tied for 6th in assists (47) and tied for 4th in plus/minus (+21).
"I hope that the decision for the Eagles was as easy as it was for me to re-sign. There's nowhere else I want to play," said Costello. "I'm excited for the upcoming season and can't wait for it to start."
