Cincinnati's TJ McElroy suspended 2 games, fined

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced that it has suspended Cincinnati defenseman T.J. McElroy for two games and fined him an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #681 at Reading on Mar. 7.

McElroy was assessed a Game Misconduct under Rule 70.4 Leaving the Penalty Bench at the conclusion of the first period.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.

McElroy will miss Cincinnati’s game at Johnstown (Mar. 13) and at Trenton (Mar. 15).

Looks like he got involved in a fight with Reading's Dinos Stamoulis at the 20:00 mark of the first period, after he'd been assessed an elbowing minor at 19:16.

So basically, he got 7 minutes for elbowing and fighting and 12 minutes plus 2 games for getting off his ass...

Yeah, that sounds about right.

I've met and talked with TJ the last couple of years and he really is a nice kid. Thinking he's more worried about playing D and staying up in Milwaukee than showing some of that sand in his craw.
