Augusta's Slattengren Has Record Night

PRINCETON, N.J. - Aaron Slattengren (4g-3a) of the Augusta Lynx had a record night on Tuesday as he and teammate John Laliberte (4g-2a) combined for 13 points in a 9-1 win at Pensacola.

Slattengren had a plus-minus rating of +8, tying the ECHL record set by Martin LePage of Wheeling against Huntington on Mar. 14, 1997, and his seven points are a Lynx record, breaking the mark of six points held by seven players. The seven points is the most scored in a game by an ECHL player this year and are the most in a game since Nov. 1, 2001 when J.F. Houle of New Orleans had seven points (2g-5a) against Pensacola.

It is the third time that two players have scored four goals in a game. Sebastien Laplante and Phil Berger of Greensboro each scored four goals in a 15-0 win at Huntington on Oct. 27, 1993, and Brad Smyth of Birmingham and Derek Eberle of Nashville each scored four goals on Jan. 3, 1995 as Birmingham won 11-9 at Nashville.

Slattengren now leads the league with 15 goals and is tied for fourth with 23 points in 18 games. The four goals and seven points are both career highs for Slattengren, who scored his first career hat trick against Texas on Nov. 20 and who had four points (2g-2a) against Pensacola on Jan. 13.

Laliberte, who had a plus-minus rating of +7 in the game, moved into a tie for eighth in the league with 10 goals and is tied for 18th with 18 points in 18 games. He had scored two goals in a game five times, including twice this season, and his previous best for points was three (2g-1a) with Trenton against Dayton on Nov. 11, 2006.

The ECHL record for points in a game is 10 (4g-6a) by Trevor Jobe of Nashville at Roanoke Valley on Feb. 6, 1993. Gerry Dailey of Nashville had nine points (3g-6a) against Huntington on Jan. 30, 1994 and Tom Bissett of Hampton Roads scored nine points (6g-3a) against Greensboro on Nov. 22, 1989. There have been nine ECHL players who have scored eight points in a game with the most recent being Jim Brown of Knoxville against Birmingham on Mar. 2, 1996.

Chanse Fitzpatrick of Dayton scored five goals, including four on the power play, in the third period against Trenton on Nov. 3 setting an ECHL record for power-play goals in a period while tying the league mark for power-play goals in a game and goals in a period. Fitzpatrick is the 25th player in ECHL history to score five goals in a game and the second to score four power-play goals, joining Matt Oates of Columbus who recorded the feat on Mar. 8, 1996 at Erie. Lars Pettersen of Augusta scored five goals, including three on the power play, in the third period of a 7-6 loss to Birmingham on Feb. 11, 1999. The record for most goals in an ECHL game is six by Hampton Roads’ Tom Bissett on Nov. 22, 1989 against Greensboro and Toledo’s Brad McCaughey against Columbus on Nov. 6, 1991.

There was no need to post this, anyone could go to the ECHL website and read it!!. This is cruel and inhumane, I had to watch the game in person and then come in here and you throw it in my face.

He's on IR (should be back in a couple of weeks knee), and know one would fight Sgroi. Fabian and Sgroi went after Kostadine and Bodine and many others on numerous occasions and none of the Lynx would dropum. In a way, who could blame them? THe game was out of reach after the 1st period so why give PCola a chance at a momentum change.
