The
Alaska Aces released five players on Wednesday amidst a series of transactions in preparation for the start of the 2012-2013 ECHL season, Aces Head Coach
Rob Murray announced. The Aces now have 20 active players, as well as three inactive players on the reserve list, and one member on the 21-day injured reserve list.
The five players Alaska released were all on professional tryout agreements (PTO). They are forwards Justin Jokinen, Phillip Ischi, Jacques Lamoureux, and
Scott Gomez, and goaltender Micah Perletti. Gomez, a former NHL Rookie of the Year and two-time Stanley Cup Champion took training camp with the Aces, but publicly stated that he did not intend on playing once the season began. Fellow NHL forwards
Brandon Dubinsky,
Nate Thompson, and
Joey Crabb are all signed to standard player contracts and have announced that they will skate with the Aces this season.
In additional roster moves, the Aces signed defenseman and Anchorage product, Dustin Molle to a standard player contract after he took camp under a PTO. The Aces also placed forwards Matt Robinson and Matt Ambroz on reserve, along with defenseman Sean Curry. 6' 8," 231 lbs. defenseman Todd Orlando was placed on the 21-day IR. Players on the reserve list may be taken off of the list at any time with no minimum number of days on the list required. Players on 21-day IR are only eligible after 21 days have elapsed from the time they were placed on IR.
