Aces Re-Sign Nick Mazzolini

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces have re-signed fourth-year forward and local product, Nick Mazzolini for the 2012-13 season, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced on Wednesday afternoon. The Anchorage native will suit up for the Aces for the third time in his professional career.

Mazzolini, 27, returns to his hometown after finishing third in Aces scoring last season. The 6'2", 210 lbs. forward had 56 points (21g-35a) in 69 games. He was a solid contributor in the playoffs as well with seven points (3g-4a) in 10 games.

As a rookie in 2009-10, Mazzolini led Alaska in goals, assists, and points and was selected for the 2010 ECHL All-Star Game. He finished fifth in the league in rookie scoring that year with 64 points (27g-37a) in 63 games.

In two seasons with the Aces, Mazzolini has produced 120 points (48g-72a) in 132 regular season games. His lone season spent outside of Alaska came in 2010-11 when he played professionally in Italy. He finished second on the Bolzano HC club with 38 points (15g-23a) in 39 games. Prior to his first stint with the Aces, he played four seasons of college hockey at Providence College where he amassed 67 points (25g-42a) in 128 games.
