2010-11 hockeyfights.com Season Awards

We've had another great season here at hockeyfights.com. I want to thank the entire team for helping put this together, especially Jon (Merlin401) & Josh (jkidd). They did an amazing job with these.

We had a few notes about polling recently, so we tested and all seems ok. A few of us made some random votes, excuse that. Once you vote, it's set. Votes cannot be changed.

If you notice anything off, please email me.

Thanks to Vodka, Merlin, jkidd, and everyone who contributed to the Season ending awards. I always look forward to the great debates about all things great in Hockey.

Next year, maybe add best hit and best cheapshot. Not fights though so probably won't.
Also, I would have loved such an awards forum like this in the 80's.

Good ideas, and we'll definitely think about them. I never wanted to write much about it, but we've spoken about doing past awards after I push more videos live. We love the idea, but I don't want to get anyone's hopes up

But wouldn't it be great to have even more of them?

Like Vinny suggested, a best hit award would be cool. Also, how about a best 'old school' coach? You could call it the Don Cherry or Mike Keenan award. Meaning the coach who best honored the old school way of approaching the way his team would play. That would be pretty nice.

Also, I still say we should have a Best of the Minor League's award. Either best fighter or best fight. That way we could get some attention paid to the PL3 and Jon Mirasty's of hockey.

We will definitely be adding the Steve Webb award for hit of the year next year.

One more major award... the Ken Linseman award to the Biggest Pest of the Year.

I know VF won't go for this, but:

WORST Ref/Linesman award.

Who is the biggest detriment to the rough stuff.

It could even be unofficial or something; that'll get David off the hook

But beyond that, Diver of the year!

And congratulations on the season, hopefully fighting next year will increase again ala 2007-2008.

Next year can we please have a Most Fearless Punching Bag Award?
