2010-11 Best Team Feud
No complaining if you wanted to see a nomination of "Your Favorite Team" vs. "Team X" because they had 7 fights in 5 games. The rest of the nominees clearly take second place to the defiant winner. But let's go through the motions:
Nominees Boston Bruins - Montreal Canadiens: (10 fights in 6 games) New York Islanders - Pittsburgh Penguins: (16 fights in 6 games) St. Louis Blues - Anaheim Ducks: (10 fights in 4 games) New York Islanders - New York Rangers: (9 fights in 6 games) My pick The stats alone say Pittsburgh - NY Islanders is the winner on paper. In real life, this rivalry was a runaway train. There was revenge going strong in both directions. There was a goalie fight. And a revenge goalie fight. There were suspensions galore, people jumping off the bench, injuries, and bad blood. Not to try to influence the vote, but if you aren't voting Pens-Isles, what were you watching this year? I will be fair and say, in a normal year, Boston and Montreal did enough to win this award. A few fight-filled games, a controversial hit that caused a major injury, and bloody brawls. But they ran into a juggernaut. Previous winners 2003-04: New York Rangers – New York Islanders 2005-06: Calgary Flames – Vancouver Canucks 2006-07: Buffalo Sabres -- Ottawa Senators 2007-08: Pittsburgh Penguins -- Philadelphia Flyers 2008-09: Montreal Canadiens - Boston Bruins 2009-10: St. Louis Blues - Chicago Blackhawks Last edited by Merlin401; 04-23-2011 at 03:19 PM. |

Islanders vs. Pens, without a doubt. They gave us the best game of the year.

The Isles and Pens played some old school hockey against each other. It was one of the few bright spots on a otherwise mediocre season.

The only thing the Isles/Pens rivalry is missing is a 7 game playoff series, but I doubt we'll see that anytime soon haha

But A: This is a HOCKEY FIGHT website, and B: The thread is Best Team FEUD (of the season nonetheless). So yes, Pens/Isles takes it.

Otherwise if you dont, you cant really compare rivalries from different sports. So if you do stick to just Hockey, then yeah, it's the Bruins/Habs and has been for a century. |
