This was actually a tough decision for me between the Capitals and the Red Wings. While Brad May's presence in Detroit was nice, their situation was still just atrocious. And as for the Caps, they actually managed to somehow keep their star players relatively unscathed despite completely refusing to provide them with the protection they really needed.
It was almost a tossup for me. But the only guy that Detroit ever had in their lineup that would even approach the responsibilities of sticking up for his teammates was Brad May. As for Washington, even if John Erskine was very inactive when it came to dropping the gloves and was a far cry from what he once was, I still think he provides more of a presence for the Caps than anything the Wings really had, and at least they had a guy like Matt Bradley around to be a good teammate. So I'm giving this award, once again, to the Red Wings by the slightest of edges.

I voted Red Wings but wanted to vote for the Wild. Even though they had Boogaard and John Scott, their overall team toughness was terrible. Boogaard never takes an instigator or goes after players who would run teammates. Watch any of their games against Dallas and see the Stars push the Wild around all game.

Let's change the name of this to the "Detroit Red Wings Award"

Would have chosen the Blackhawks, but with the available choices, it's the Caps. Matt Bradley will never be the same.

I went with Washington because most of their fights I recall were pretty much instigator fighting majors. They may not have been but it seems like they had to have the fight pressed up on them really hard!!
Granted ten of the ninteen Detroit had were Brad Mays, but May was willing at least!
