This was a tough one for me, I went with Luke Schenn, not so much his fight card just his willingness as a young rookie and I feel like he is really setting the trend of the new Burke Leafs. I think he made the biggest splash in the league this year. Crombeen was another good choice as was Stewart. Fritz, MacIntyre, and Rechlicz didn't play enough for me to seriously consider them.

Not even the "..." ???

In any event, although I didn't vote for him myself, more people think he is the rookie who is most deserving of this honor than anyone else.

Since this is a hockey fights website, i'm assuming the roty award is for the best fighting card.
Mitch Fritz the winner.

Personally I would strongly disagree. I dont see how the rookie of the year could have played in less than 25% of the games during that year. And it being hockeyfights.com is meaningless to the argument. So because this is a fight site we have to pick the fighter with the best fight card? Why not the most number of fights? Why not the highest ration of fights to games played? There's plenty of ways you can look at choosing this winner. I respect your opinion that it is Fritz. But by no means is that the only valid opinion.

I hear what you're saying, personally I think Crombeen deserved this based on activity alone. None of the other candidates even had double digit fight numbers and only Crombeen and Stewart got significant playing time.

Just like there are certain criteria for the normal rookie of the year award, I think games played and activity have to be taken into account. If one rookie forward only scores 6 goals, even if they're all highlight reel goals, and another rookie scores 20, the rookie with 20 is going to get the
rookie of the year nod.

This was an exceedingly weak year and honestly I think the only reason Fritz got as many votes as he did is because he had a handful of good fights in the 20 games he was here, while MacIntyre and Rechlicz didn't have quite the same impact in just as few games.

Gotta go with Crombeen. He's not a heavyweight but he'll take on anyone in defense of his teammates - including some of the big name fighters in the league. He may not win all his fights but he rarely gets embarrassed. Not only that but the kid is a solid player on the Blues energy line. Has the potential to maybe hit 20 goals. Even had a hat trick last year.
