Homer write-in pick: Brad Staubitz, only on the strength of the Tootoo win. Other than that, he was pretty mediocre... much like this whole crop.

This is kind of a tough catagory this year. The only real contenders are Fritz, Big Mac, and The Wrecker. None of them played even close to a full schedule. So I went with my sentimental favorite, Big Mac. I think he'll be a legitimate threat as long as he's in the league. The Wrecker should have a decent career too if he can stick with the Islanders. Fritz is going nowhere fast, IMO.

B.J. Crombeen. From the scrap heap to a pretty valuable guy who can provide a real spark.

Crombeen best all-around,

But gotta go with "Freakshow Fritz" with the BGL win.

One question, are people voting for Crombeen because of his 11 goals or are they voting because of his 12 fights?

Anyone beating BGL deserve some recognition, even more if it was a rookie so I take Fritz, but looking at past winners I'd say this was a pretty poor year for newcomers.

I had to go with BJ here, I thought that Fritz wasn't up enough this year (even though he beat BGL), Mac got tattooed by Godard, Wrecker wasn't impressive IMO. BJ wins kinda by default.

B.J Crombeen lost more fights than he won this year, and lost to guys like Montador and Weller.. He also got beat down by Carcillo, Boll, Lucic, Walker.. I don't know why so many voted for him..

Who did Crombeem fight of any note last year..? When Cote won it he beat guys like McGrattan, Shelley, Rupp, Roy, Peters x 2, and fought all the other top fighters in the league that year..

D.J King won the year before won most of his fights and only lost one fight clearly to Boogaard. King beat guys like Hordichuk, Parros, Shelley, Godard, Brookbank all in his first year..

Crombeem does not match up to these guys at all.

Nobody on this list match up to King or Cote. So should we just just not vote this season? Crombeen got my vote because not only is he the best all around player on this list(besides Schenn)...but he was the most active and was in the only guy consistantly(again besides Schenn who shouldn't be on this list) in the lineup.

Fritz played 20 games with only 6 fights.
Rechlicz played 17 games with only 8 fights.
MacIntyre played 22 games with only 6 fights.
Stewart played 53 games with only 8 fights.

Meanwhile Crombeen played 81 games and had 16 fights. The poll isn't on who is the best fighter, it's about who was the best fighting rookie and I can't see picking anyone outside of Crombeen or Stewart. Schenn isn't a fighter. Fritz and Rechlicz will again only play maybe 20 games if there lucky next year. While both Crombeen and Stewart will play at least 60 games if they don't get injured.

I thought it was who was the best fighter out of the rookies judging them by the fights they had this year..

I did not take in to count how good a player they were because I thought it was based on fighting ability, and results...

Crombeen my have played a lot more games and fought a lot more but he's a poor fighter who loses most of his fights, so could not vote for him.. Plus when you look at the fights per game ratio in % they match up very similar.

The Rookie of the Year is not strictly defined. Its up to you what it means the best rookie fighter is: best literal fighter, best combination of skill and fighting ability, most fighting impact on the team and their success.... Its kind of up to you.
