Biggest letdown by far.
I disagree.

And why i do that is simply because i never thought Andre would have a good season in the first place.
A speculation he obviously lived up to (unfortunately, nothing against him).

However, the fact that he was a let-down, i agree with.

On the other hand, Riley Cote fought a ton, and fought them all. I don't understand why he's getting so many votes for this particular "award."

This award is all about your personal expectations for each player before the year IMO. From my point of view, Roy hasn't had more than 12 fights since 2001 so I really didn't expect him to put up bigger numbers than he has been at the age of 33. Roy had 3 less fights from the year before and Cote had 2 less fights so the numbers didn't have much effect on my choice.

I just thought there was a huge difference in watching Cote fights from his rookie year to last year and that was disappointing to me because he was always one of the few to count on for a good scrap, and he always had a punchers chance a couple years ago, while I felt last year he was just trying to survive after a rough start to the year. I hope he comes back next year and has a great year but unless I am taking the phrase "let-down" too literally, Cote gets my vote. If this was flat out what fighter had the worst year, Cote is not even on my radar.

What can i say... another solid post.
The first paragraph nails it.

And knowing the competition (King, McGrattan included), Andre Roy shouldn't even have a chance breaking the Top 5 in the West imo.

Thanks a lot pbag. We could use more nuts like Roy in the league but I fear time has run out on those that can't be controlled. Plus you are right about the competition. Hard to see him hanging with some of the monsters out there.

I'll take 22 fights over 9 fights any day of the week. Cote lost most of his fights, sure, but Roy didn't win any of his. If you want to categorize a guy who had as many fights as Cote did as a letdown, go for it. Roy had a chance to make a statement and didn't take advantage of it. To me, that's a major letdown.

Who?
That's two guys who never would let a phony fighter like Phil Oreskovic pillow pound them into oblivion..

Sure, why not categorize a guy with as many fights as Cote?
The old saying Quality before Quantity has never been more relevant.

I'll also take 22 fights over 9 fights, but thats not what my vote was intended to clarify.

Well, I guess if I was forced at gunpoint to choose between 9 and 22 fights I would have to choose 22. Still has nothing to do with a let-down, which has everything to do with expectations. I choose not to expect much from a 33 year old basket case that hasn't had more than 12 fights in 7 years or so. I did however expect a 26 year old second year player to improve. Instead he went backwards and that was a let down. It is not his win-loss record, he really did not give himself much of a chance in most of his fights.

I used to like a lot Roy and the loose cannon character, but now I must say he's just a mediocre fighter and not very entertaining. One of the biggest dissapointments this year.

I'm going with Darcy Hordichuk. He had every chance to reinvent himself after the Nashville years, and with all his MMA training, he hardly did that much. The guy had every reason to be one of the top FM total guys in the league. Instead, he's become a hockey player.....but good for him I suppose. I just miss the guy's FLA Panther years. He was entertaining as hell.

Darcy Hordichuk... Somebody on this board claimed to live next door to him. he also said that Darcy was a "born again christian".
Whatever that means, i don't know. Darcy however, is over the hill.
And as a born again christian, whatever that means (again), doesn't fit well with being an NHL enforcer.

But afterall, the self proclaimed christians on this board has showed no remorse or the slightest respect for others beliefs, so it maybe is a good thing? The lack of remorse is afterall what i like to see when the gloves hits the ice.

I love Andrew Peters, but I think he should take this one again. He went from a top 10 contender in 06-07 (even being ranked #3 behind Laraque and Brashear at one point) to literally falling off the map in the past two seasons. It's sad because I could have pictured him being champ at some point. That looks nearly impossible now.

I'm going to have to strongly disagree with that statement pbag. Stu Grimson was also a very devout Christian all through his NHL career, and look at the way he did his job. I don't think the fact that Darcy is religious has anything to do with his performance, although I'm sure any of his haters will try and use it as a detracting factor.

I am a Christian pbag, and I fully respect others' religious beliefs (even though I may disagree with their views), but I sincerely doubt that anyone's perspectives on theology could possibly interfere or hinder their performance at the professional level. Let's leave religion out of this.
